CESifo Research Network

The CESifo Research Network is based on the visitors programme run by the Center for Economic Studies of the University of Munich (LMU). It brings together leading economists from around the globe and constitutes an ideal platform for the discussion of current applied and theoretical themes in economics, with an emphasis on public policy issues. The Research Network offers a wide range of network activities and functions as both a research tool and a publication platform for its members. Network members may submit working papers for publication and are invited to participate in conferences, workshops and seminars. ( more )

College for Interdisciplinary Educational Research

Promotion and improvement of interdisciplinary educational research of young researchers at the postdoctoral level. Joint research activities among participating (senior and junior) researchers. Education Through Language and Literacy (ELaL)

The joint governmental and federal initiative BiSS aims at improving and advancing concepts and methods for language development, language assessment and reading development in elementary, primary and secondary education. The consortium will be responsible for the initiative’s design, coordination and academic development. The consortium consists of three institutions with expert knowledge concerning elementary, primary and secondary education respectively that will be pivotal in generating expert knowledge in language assessment, language development and literacy advancement. European Expert Network on Economics of Education (EENEE)

EENEE is a network of leading European centres and experts on economics of education. As an EU Think Tank, EENEE is sponsored by the European Commission, Directorate General Education and Culture (DG EAC) and coordinated by the Ifo Institute. EENEE aims to contribute to the improvement of decision-making and policy development in education and training in Europe. The network advises and supports the European Commission in the analysis of economic aspects of educational policies and reforms. European Literacy Policy Network (ELINET)

ELINET focuses on the creation of a sustainable European Literacy Policy Network (ELINET), an umbrella organization for all organizations engaged in literacy policy making and promotion, building on the 2012 Report of the European High Level Expert Group on Literacy (EHLG). Its aim is to develop evidence-based tools for all actors in the heterogeneous field of literacy locally, regionally, nationally or transnationally. ( more )

German Netwerk for Educational Research Data

Empirical educational studies are characterized by their multidisciplinary nature, and their research data output has been remarkable. Consequently, there is a growing need for services of archiving, documenting and sharing data. In order to support researchers in producing high-quality data and conducting excellent research the German Network for Educational Research Data (German NetworkERD), aims to build and establish a powerful data infrastructure. LEAD Graduate School

The LEAD Graduate School aims at fostering outstanding doctoral research on education-related issues and at maintaining the highest standards at all levels of academia: through instigating interdisciplinary research and providing supportive thesis supervision, professional career building, and smooth administrative services. Important elements of the LEAD strategy include master's programs that prepare for a doctorate within LEAD as well as postdoctoral programs. Leibniz-WissenschaftsCampus Tübingen „Cognitive Interfaces“

The fundamental idea of the Leibniz-WissenschaftsCampus, to link research in and outside the university more strongly, is based on an initiative by the Leibniz Association. To achieve this, the Leibniz-WissenschaftsCampus is structured as a joint research association of the Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien and the University of Tübingen. NELSEN (NEtwork for Large-Scale Studies Including Students with Special Educational Needs) is a network of researchers who study the learning outcomes and conditions of students with special educational needs. The goal of the network is to improve the data basis about the situation of students with special educational needs in large-scale assessments. Given the heterogeneity of students with special educational needs and the diversity of the assistance measures for this group, the research in this area faces a number of challenges. ( more )

PIAAC 2012 provides up-to-date information on key adult skills in 24 countries. The data will be used to carry out further research on the acquisition and utilisation of skills. To achieve this goal, an interdisciplinary network of researchers that are experienced with research in PIAAC was built. This network will evaluate existing measures in PIAAC and compare them to other measures of skills and intelligence. In addition, alternative measures will be developed and subsequently tested using data from the German longitudinal PIAAC survey. ( more )

Rural Education Action Project (REAP)

Children in rural China face many barriers in gaining a proper education. The ultimate goal of the Rural Education Action Program (REAP) is to help poor students in rural China overcome these obstacles and harvest their educational dreams.
