Cumulative Assessment Study on Mathematics in Rhineland-Palatinate: Competencies, Classroom Teaching Features, School Context (MARKUS) - Context and Background Features
MARKUS is an assessment study within the framework of school-quality monitoring in the German Land of Rhineland-Palatinate. It encompassed a survey of the mathematics performance of grade 8 students and the compilation of features related to learning and classroom teaching as well as to factors of situational context inside and outside school.

Mathematics Teachers of the selected students and the principals of the selected schools
Population / Sample
All students of the 8th Grade of every school in Rhineland-Palatinate (except special education schools)
n= circa 39,000 students
Survey Procedure and Instruments
Achievement tests in mathematics and questionnaires for students, teachers and principals
